As part of the "Taste of Asia" Food, Culture and Tourism Themed Day during the Chengdu Panda Asian Food Festival (CPAFF), the "TASTE OF JAPAN" –Japanese Quality Festival kicked off May 21 at the Ito Yokado (Chengdu Greenland Center store).
The Festival presents 50 Japanese brands from Hokkaido, Kyoto, Osaka, Okinawa, and other cities and regions in Japan. 30% of the products on sale are new commodities. Octopus balls, Ramen, Japanese wine, the large variety of the Japanese food attracted people's attention and gave them a great opportunity to taste the authentic Japanese flavors.
"I hope that the event could deep the friendly cooperation between Chengdu and Japan," said Ms. Li Li, vice chairwoman of the Chengdu people's association for friendship with foreign countries.
According to her, Japan is Chengdu's fourth largest trade partner and second largest importer. Up to now, about 310 Japanese companies have invested in Chengdu, including Ito Yokado, Toyota and Toshiba. And Chengdu has opened direct flights to Tokyo and Osaka with a total of 29 flights per week.
The event will last till May 26.
